Bougainvillea Branch in Osaka

One bougainvillea branch extends from a narrow balcony planter, its papery bracts glowing in the soft, diffused light of early morning. Water droplets rest on the delicate petals and the rough, weathered wood of the container, reflecting the gray sky above. The plant rests against a backdrop of traditional Japanese shoji screens, which are slightly ajar to let in the fresh air. A thin stream of condensation drips slowly from the lowest leaf, landing on the wet concrete sill below.
