A rusted iron gate stands ajar, its handle gleaming with recent touch. On the weathered wooden bench beside the path, a pair of bright red rubber boots rests near a terracotta wash basin filled with rainwater and fallen eucalyptus leaves. A small, scruffy terrier mix sits patiently on the damp concrete, looking toward the street.
