Bee Pollen Leg on Petal in Belize Monsoon

Golden-orange pollen grains coat the fuzzy, segmented leg of a bee resting on a broad, waxy green petal. The leg, covered in fine hairs that trap the dust, extends across the smooth surface of the flower. Soft, diffused light from an overcast sky eliminates harsh shadows, revealing the texture of the insect's exoskeleton and the subtle moisture on the petal from a passing sun shower. The background blurs into a wash of deep greens and earthy browns, suggesting the dense foliage of a Belizean rainforest. Water droplets rest on the edges of the leaf, reflecting the gray-white sky above. The leg ends in a sharp, dark claw gripping the plant stem.
