Soft morning light falls through a light drizzle, illuminating a student seated on a low ledge beside tall metal lockers along a schoolyard walkway in Xian. Peak autumn leaves in shades of russet and gold scatter across the damp concrete, their colors muted by the overcast sky. The student wears a heavy coat, head bent over an open textbook resting on a worn desk surface. Tools of revision, including a blue pen and a small bottle of water, sit neatly on the desk. Deep shadows cloak the left side of the frame, while a thin rim of light traces the edge of the student's shoulder and the wet metal of the lockers. The scene is quiet, defined by the stillness of the falling rain and the focused posture of the learner. One droplet rests on the edge of the open book page, reflecting the gray sky.
