Rich amber light floods the Verona showroom floor where pale tailoring hangs in stiff rows beside a mirror rimmed with glowing makeup bulbs. Ordinary mannequins stand motionless while massive mushroom caps, the size of umbrellas, rise directly from the tiled ground. Their gills catch the low sun, casting deep violet shadows across the silk fabric. Dust motes do not dance; they hang suspended in the heavy air. The glass of the window reflects the setting sun and the impossible fungal growths in sharp, stylized detail. One reflection of a mushroom cap rests on the polished floor near the hem of a pale suit jacket.
