Amber Sunset Durga Puja Pandal in Delhi
by Gary Warren
Rich amber light from the setting sun illuminates the intricate facade of a Durga Puja pandal in Nizamuddin, Delhi. The grand idol of Goddess Durga stands central, her multi-armed form painted in vibrant reds and golds, framed by the dark, wet archway of the structure. A light drizzle coats the surface, creating glossy reflections on the plaster and fabric drapes that hang heavy with moisture. Colorful marigold garlands draped along the lower edges appear saturated and slightly darker where the water clings. The sky above transitions from deep orange to soft violet, casting long, diffuse shadows across the wet ground. Raindrops blur the edges of the archway, adding a soft texture to the foreground while the idol remains sharp against the fading daylight. The wet pavement reflects the warm glow of the temporary lights, at the base of the scene in the cool, damp air of early autumn.
