A stack of three battered aluminum mixing bowls sits on a rough concrete windowsill overlooking a busy street in Mexico City. The overcast midday light casts soft, diffuse shadows across the dented surfaces of the nested cookware. A small, weathered ceramic tile with blue glaze rests against the side of the bottom bowl, adding a splash of color to the metallic gray. Dust motes drift in the air above the sill, settling gently on the rim of the topmost container.
