Alley Threshold in Tunis

by Perry Dawson

Rain-slicked limestone pavement reflects the pale, diffused light of early morning in a narrow Tunisian medina alley. A weathered wooden door, typical of the region, stands slightly ajar, its surface adorned with a traditional metal knocker and a faded, hand-painted sign in Arabic script. A small, wet puddle gathers at the threshold, mirroring the gray sky and the rough texture of the surrounding stucco walls. To the right, a cluster of discarded clay pots, stained with age and rain, sits against the base of the wall, their earthy tones against the cool, damp stone.
