Albanian Construction Jack Stack at Dusk

Stacked steel shoring jacks rise vertically against a scaffolded facade in early spring Albania. Cold air hangs heavy as damp plywood sheets lean against the metal framework, their surfaces darkened by moisture. Low-hanging clouds obscure the sun, casting a flat, grey light that reflects off the rusted joints and wet wood grain. Leading lines formed by the scaffolding poles guide the eye upward toward the dimming sky. The disciplined arrangement of the equipment suggests a pause in labor, with every bolt and plate aligned in preparation for the night. One rust stain runs down the side of the lowest jack, marking the damp conditions.
