Aerial Volcanic Caldera Lake Colombia Morning Fog

by Don Morgan

Bright midmorning light floods a massive volcanic caldera where a deep blue crater lake rests in the center. Surrounding the water, steep volcanic slopes rise sharply, their surfaces textured with dark earth and patches of early autumn vegetation showing hints of yellow and rust. Below the rim, thick ground fog fills the valleys, creating a white sea that obscures the forest floor. The high vantage point reveals the perfect circular geometry of the crater against the rugged terrain. Reflections of the sky shimmer on the calm lake surface, while the fog rolls gently against the base of the inner walls. Dark volcanic rock edges contrast with the soft white mist at the very bottom of the frame.
