Aerial Geothermal Springs Thailand Morning Fog
by Dolores Peck
Pale morning light spills over a vast patchwork of irrigation geometry and geothermal hot springs in Thailand. Layers of depth recede into the distance, where light fog softens the edges of the patterned terrain. The water in the springs displays vivid mineral hues of turquoise, rust, and ochre, contrasting sharply with the surrounding earth tones. Rectangular fields and winding channels create a rigid grid that intersects with the organic shapes of the heated pools. The cool season air hangs heavy, obscuring the far horizon while highlighting the texture of the wet ground. Sharp geometric lines of the irrigation system meet the fluid boundaries of the springs, creating a complex visual rhythm across the landscape. A thin veil of mist rests on the lowest depressions, blurring the transition between the mineral-rich water and the dry soil.
