Zigni Stew Served on Injera in Çorlu Morning

Bright midmorning light falls through sheer curtains, illuminating a ceramic plate holding Ethiopian zigni stew resting on a bed of spongy injera. The deep red sauce coats chunks of beef and lentils, glistening under the natural glow. Shadows settle softly into the corners of the small dining table in Çorlu, where a warm lamplight begins to compete with the daylight. The rough, porous texture of the injera contrasts with the smooth, glossy surface of the stew. Early winter is suggested by the cool, crisp quality of the light hitting the table edge. A faint reflection of the window frame appears on the rim of the plate.
