Young Man in Fez

Summer heat lingers in the narrow alleyway of the Fes el-Bali medina as a young man in a crisp white jellaba leans against a sun-bleached mudbrick wall, his hand resting casually on the handle of a battered green bicycle. The late afternoon light catches the fingerprints smudged across the polished chrome handlebars, a small testament to daily use. Beside him, a terracotta pitcher sits on a low stone step, condensation already beading on its surface, while the intricate zellige tilework of a nearby doorway glows in the fading amber light.
