Cool morning light falls through the corrugated tin roof of a cramped Chawl kitchen, illuminating a cluttered work surface where daily routines unfold. A white table fan sits idle on a stained plastic tray, its cage catching the soft, diffuse glow. Beside it, a stack of glossy enamel storage tins in faded blue and red reflects the ambient brightness, their surfaces smooth against the rough, pebbled texture of the wet mud floor visible through the open doorway. A terracotta bowl holds remnants of last night’s dough, next to a simple shelf bracket supporting a row of stoneware crocks.
