A small wooden doorframe stands in the harsh, flat noon light of a La Paz alleyway, its dark wood contrasting sharply with the bright white stucco wall. The frame is worn and uneven, showing years of sun exposure and the rough handling of daily life in this high-altitude city. One pair of leather sandals rests on the threshold, their soles covered in the fine red dust typical of the local streets. The shadow cast by the lintel falls straight down, showing the verticality of the narrow passage and the stark geometry of the architecture.
