Wooden Door Latch in Athens

A weathered wooden door latch hangs on a white stucco entrance, catching the last dim blue light of the Athenian evening. The metal surface shows signs of age and oxidation, against the smooth, painted wood of the door frame. Shadows lengthen across the threshold, revealing the texture of the stone step below and the rough plaster of the adjacent wall. One bulb above casts a faint, warm glow that barely touches the edge of the latch mechanism.
