Woodcarving Gouges on Pier Railing St Johns

Warm string lights cast a soft, golden glow over a row of woodcarving gouges resting inside a worn leather roll. The tools sit directly on the weathered gray railing of a pier near St. Johns, Portland, where late summer air hangs still. Deep shadows pool in the corners of the leather case, hiding the darker crevices between the steel blades. The metal edges reflect the ambient light, creating sharp, bright lines against the soft brown leather. Behind the tools, the dark water of the river stretches into the night, while the faint outline of the pier structure fades into the background. A small scratch on the nearest gouge handle catches the light, marking the edge of the frame.
