Grey winter light settles over a shallow puddle along a shuttered arcade in Melbourne. The still water mirrors a pedestrian overpass, its steel beams and concrete supports inverting against the dark surface. Bare tree branches reach into the frame from the top left, their thin limbs stark against the overcast sky. The wet pavement around the puddle reflects the muted tones of the surrounding buildings, creating a cool palette of slate and charcoal. Shadows stretch long across the wet ground, showing the late afternoon hour. One raindrop distorts the reflection of the overpass railing, rippling the geometric lines into a wavy pattern before the water settles again.
