Winter noon light strikes the pale limestone facade of a Dubrovnik kitchen window, where a pair of faded blue oven mitts hangs from a rusted iron hook beside a small, resilient cluster of winter-blooming bougainvillea. Below the sill, a stone ledge holds a single white porcelain mug resting on a weathered wooden tray, the ceramic catching the harsh midday glare. The scene is framed by the heavy, textured stonework of the old city walls visible in the blurred background, at the base of the domestic stillness in the historic architecture. A folded newspaper lies crumpled near the edge of the tray, its ink slightly blurred by the damp sea air.
