Wheelwright Fitting Iron Tire Wagon Wheel

Molten gold light from the setting sun strikes the edge of a large wooden wagon wheel as a wheelwright secures a glowing iron tire. The craftsman stands in profile, his hands gripping the heated metal against the cool, pale wood of the spokes. Early spring fog softens the background near Cologne, creating a hazy veil that separates the worker from the distant trees. The iron glows orange where it meets the wood, casting sharp, elongated shadows across the workshop floor. Foreground bokeh blurs the texture of the ground, drawing focus to the precise moment the metal expands to fit the rim. A thin wisp of steam rises from the contact point, visible against the darkening sky.
