Welder's Burned Arms by Canberra River at Blue Hour

Indigo water reflects dim light onto the forearms of a retired ship welder standing near a riverside landing in Canberra. Late autumn leaves skitter across the wet concrete at the edge of the frame, moving against the stillness of the figure. The subject's skin bears a dense pattern of pale arc-burn freckles, visible where reflected water light washes over the weathered surface. A heavy coat hangs from the shoulders, its hem resting near scattered debris on the ground. Expansive negative space surrounds the figure, isolating the textured arms against the darkening sky. The cool tone of the water mirrors the steel-gray sky above, while a few dry leaves rest on the wet pavement beside the boots.
