A weathered white mailbox stands anchored on a rusted metal post against the gray backdrop of a misty Nashville dawn. Condensation beads along the curved metal seam where the red pull handle meets the peeling paint of the lid. Behind the structure, the blurred shapes of oak trees emerge from the thick fog that rests on the suburban lawn. One yellow leaf rests on the wet concrete pad at the base of the post.
