Pale dawn sidelight washes the left side of a retired watchmaker's face, highlighting deep furrows and weathered skin texture against the dimmer right side. The man sits at eye level, his expression holding a quiet dignity. Small, pale scar-like marks from a magnifying loupe rest on his earlobe. Behind him, the textile atelier reveals clean surfaces and restrained clutter: spools of thread in muted blues and greys sit on shelves, while damp monsoon light falls through a high window, softening the edges of the room. Visible moisture beads on the glass, marking the monsoon season. A wooden workbench in the foreground shows grain patterns worn smooth by decades of use, ending in a shadow that falls sharply across the edge of the wood.
