Soft overcast light diffuses evenly across the face of a tunnel borer standing near Vadodara during monsoon season. A thick layer of gray dust coats the white hard hat, settling into the creases of a worn headlamp mounted on the forehead. The worker wears a high-visibility vest that appears slightly damp from the humid air, against the dry, dusty texture of the helmet. Dark, heavy clouds fill the sky in the background, leaving a large expanse of pale gray negative space that isolates the figure. The subject's eyes look directly forward, framed by the stark, practical gear of a construction worker. One bead of moisture rests on the rim of the hard hat where the fabric meets the plastic shell.
