The late summer sun casts long, amber shadows across the dusty courtyard of a traditional Luxor home, where a stone washing trough stands as the central anchor. A woman in a faded floral abaya bends over the basin, her hands submerged in the soapy water, scrubbing heavy cotton sheets that spill over the rough limestone edge. Beside her, a plastic bucket and a rusted metal basin catch the golden hour light, while a line of laundry pins clings to a nearby wire, holding damp white shirts taut against the breeze.
