Vinyl Records at Seville Spice Market
by Zoey Aguilar
Damp awnings stretch overhead, casting soft shadows across a table laden with red clay pots and sacks of vibrant spices in Arenal, Seville. Resting directly on the weathered wood surface, a collection of old vinyl records fans out in a deliberate arc. The black discs contrast against the rough texture of a blue-and-white checkered blanket beneath them. Morning light falls through the fabric, highlighting the dust on the record grooves and the sheen of moisture on the ceramic containers nearby. In the background, blurred figures move past the stall, their presence suggested by the slight blur of motion near the spice sacks. The edge of a record sleeve catches the light, revealing a faded yellow label against the deep black of the plastic. Shadows from the awning bars fall in rhythmic stripes across the fanned records.
