Vintage Cast Iron Shoe Last on Workbench

Amber glow from hanging string lights illuminates a heavy cast iron shoe last resting on a scarred wooden workbench. The metal curves show rust and wear against the dark, oil-stained grain of the table surface. Dampness from the monsoon season coats the room, visible as a sheen on the iron and the surrounding grey walls of the Macau rehearsal space. Shadows fall across the floor and stack against the corners where the light does not reach. One nail head near the toe of the last reflects the dim illumination, sitting beside the rough, curved edge of the tool.
