Vines Overgrow Hanoi Hall Table

by Karen Moran

Honey-colored window light floods a rain-streaked glass pane in a Hanoi interior, illuminating a wooden hall table beside the glass. Thick jungle vines have visibly overgrown half the room, their green leaves and woody stems climbing the wall and draping over the furniture in a single season. The wet season air leaves water droplets on the glass and floor, creating muted reflections of the vines. Shallow depth of field blurs the distant corner while keeping the table and vines sharp. The impossible growth contrasts with the calm, lived-in wooden surfaces and the soft, late-day glow filtering through the rain.
