Deep indigo clouds loom over the covered bazaar aisle in Bomas, Nairobi, while distant street lamps spill a cool, amber glow onto a wooden market table. A vendor arranges rectangular bars of handmade soap, their surfaces rough and textured in pale yellows and creamy whites. The soap stacks grow in neat, uneven columns against the dark grain of the wood. Behind the table, the aisle recedes into shadow, revealing faint outlines of other stalls and the heavy fabric of awnings. The lighting carves sharp highlights on the soap edges while leaving the vendor's hands in soft focus. One bar rests precariously on the edge of the top stack, catching the last stray beam of light.
