Thermostat Kit Before Ocean Doorway

Pale winter light bounces off unfinished walls, illuminating a thermostat commissioning kit arranged on dusty laminate flooring. Steel tools, plastic guards, cardboard tubes, and label stock sit in sharp focus against the grit of the construction site. The corridor stretches forward with leading lines formed by baseboards and floor seams. At the far end, a wall that should be solid plaster opens directly into the open ocean. Waves crash through the frame, their white foam against the dry dust motes dancing in the air shafts. The water fills the space where a door would be, while the room retains its industrial, dusty texture. One plastic guard rests on the floor, its edge catching the reflection of the distant sea.
