Terracotta Bowl in Izmir

A terracotta bowl rests on a narrow balcony rail, its rough clay surface catching the cool blue glow of streetlamps above. The rim of the vessel is uneven, showing the hand of the potter in slight ridges that contrast with the smooth metal of the railing. Behind it, the blurred lights of Izmir's harbor create a bokeh of orange and white against the dark night sky. One drop of water rests on the rim, reflecting the distant city lights in a tiny, distorted circle.
