Sunlight pours through the slats of a white wooden shutter in a Copacabana tailor’s back room, casting sharp, rhythmic shadows across a worn workbench. A vintage Italian majolica plate, its blue floral pattern chipped at the rim, sits beside a wooden spool box overflowing with thread. The tailor’s hands, dusted with chalk, guide a heavy denim fabric under the needle of a industrial sewing machine, the needle a blur of motion. Nearby, a metal rake head leans against a stack of cardboard boxes, its tines catching the harsh afternoon glare, while the peg rail shadow on the plaster wall marks the passage of time.
