Tabby Cat in Seville

A tabby cat rests on the cool white plaster of a narrow Seville balcony, its striped fur against the stark noon shadows. The flat overhead light flattens the texture of the walls while casting deep, sharp shadows from the wrought iron gate handle nearby. Beside the feline, a cluster of terracotta bowls sits empty and dusty, their rough edges softened by the intense brightness. The cat’s tail curls loosely around its paws, resting near the base of a weathered stair rail that leads down into the shaded courtyard below.
