Sleeping Cat in Seville

Misty dawn diffuses the early light into a soft, gray-blue wash over a narrow Seville patio, where damp air rests on the white-washed walls of a traditional casa. A scuffed painted wood bench, its turquoise finish chipped to reveal layers of older pastel, sits against the stucco, holding a solitary orange cat curled in a tight, sleeping ball. Beside the feline, a chipped ceramic cup rests on a small, weathered serving bowl, its contents long gone, while a curled orange peel lies abandoned on the stone floor nearby, its bright zest against the muted morning gloom.
