Surreal Borneo Captain Cabin Wheel Before Dawn in in Borneo

Surreal Borneo Captain Cabin Wheel Before Dawn

by Yuki Fleming

Heavy overcast skies press down on a wooden ship wheel mounted inside a captain's cabin in Borneo. The turn of seasons brings a silvery winter light that bleeds through the open doorway, illuminating dust motes and the grain of the charts spread across the table. The wheel stands at eye level, its spokes worn smooth by handling. A corridor extends visibly farther than the building that contains it, stretching into an impossible distance beyond the cabin walls. The floorboards end abruptly where the hallway continues, defying the structure's limits. A brass hinge on the door frame catches the faint glow, marking the boundary between the tangible room and the endless passage. The charts remain flat, their ink sharp against the pale morning light.
