Rich amber light spills across the stone walkway of a St Petersburg campus as early winter settles in. Students stand in small clusters along the path, their breath visible in the cooling air. They hold metal thermoses beneath outdoor taps, water splashing into the containers. Rainwater darkens the paved surfaces, reflecting the deep orange glow of the setting sun. Coats and scarves suggest the chill of the season. The figures are seen from behind, their shoulders and backs forming a line against the fading daylight. A puddle near the curb mirrors the amber sky and the dark silhouette of a distant building.
