Clear afternoon sunlight slants through the tall, narrow windows of a Berlin Altbau apartment, illuminating a vintage wooden window seat where a striped towel is casually draped over the edge. The fabric’s blue and white stripes contrast sharply with the peeling white paint of the historic window frame and the rough texture of the aged brick wall beside it. Through the open glass, the blurred greenery of a courtyard tree and the slate grey roof of a neighboring building establish the specific urban residential context of the city. One droplet of water rests on the bottom corner of the curtain, catching the bright light and highlighting the dampness of the recent rain.
