String Lights Glow on Museum Plinth at Twilight
by Peggy Adkins
Warm amber bulbs drape across a darkened indoor space, casting soft pools of light onto a display surface. The glow reveals the sharp geometry of metal supports and the smooth, cool reflection of a glass pane resting nearby. Heavy fabric drapes hang in the background, absorbing the ambient light while catching faint highlights on their folds. Through a nearby window, the deep blue of early winter twilight bleeds across the floor, creating a cool contrast against the artificial warmth. Shadows stretch long and soft across the metal edges, defining the texture of the materials. A small cluster of unlit bulbs hangs at the edge, their dark glass casing mirroring the dim room. The light from the window falls directly across the metal frame, emphasizing its cold, rigid surface against the soft textile.
