Predawn Caustics on White Tablecloth

Amber string lights hang above a glass-roofed arcade near Damanhur, casting rippled patterns of light onto a crisp white tablecloth. A glass of water sits centered, refracting the dim glow into shifting, rhythmic geometric shapes that dance across the fabric. The predawn darkness falls through the glass roof, creating a cool, muted backdrop against the warm, localized illumination. Reflections from the string lights stretch along the polished floor, doubling the visual rhythm. The water glass acts as a prism, splitting the ambient glow into soft, fluid bands of gold and pale yellow. Shadows remain soft and indistinct, blending the rigid geometry of the arcade with the organic flow of the light patterns. The edge of the glass catches a thin line of reflected light, at the base of the floating shapes.
