Stoop Entrance in New York

Blue hour settles over a narrow Bronx stoop where a faded green door bears a heavy brass deadbolt, its metal catching the last cool light from the streetlamp above. A rusted iron hook hangs crookedly beside the frame, holding a single frayed yellow cord that sways slightly in the damp air. The concrete steps are stained with years of rain and foot traffic, leading down to a sidewalk where a discarded newspaper lies half-open. Across the street, the warm glow from a bodega window spills onto the wet pavement, against the deep indigo of the twilight sky.
