Steeplechase Runner Splashing Water Jump New York
by Jasper Lyons
Golden afternoon light floods the riverbank course, illuminating a runner mid-stride as they breach the water jump barrier. The athlete's dark jersey contrasts against the churning white foam spraying upward in frozen droplets. Late autumn air carries fallen leaves that skitter across the grassy foreground, some blurred by shallow depth of field while others remain sharp near the water's edge. The runner's muscles tense against the resistance of the muddy pool, water cascading off their boots. Brown and orange foliage lines the distant bank, catching the bright tropical sun that casts short, crisp shadows on the wet ground. A final splash droplet hangs suspended in the air, catching the light before falling back into the brown river water.
