Sparkler Loops in Winter Stair Hall

Warm candlelight glows against the beige tiles of a stair hall in Castellón de la Plana, illuminating the geometric symmetry of the architecture. Long exposure trails of burning sparklers carve bright loops and spirals through the honeyed evening air, against the deep shadows settling into the corners. The winter season is evident in the heavy stillness of the space and the stark, bright white lines of the light painting. Each curve of the sparkler leaves a luminous ribbon that hangs suspended against the rigid vertical lines of the walls. The tiled floor reflects the flickering warmth, while the spiral patterns drift near the top of the frame where the lamplight fades into darkness. One loop of light rests against the edge of a stone step.
