Tree Branch Shadows on Plaster in Osh Stair Hall
by Cory Holland
Soft tungsten light pools against a white plaster wall inside a tiled stair hall in Osh, turning the night into a study of geometry. Dark, rhythmic shadows of tree branches stretch across the smooth surface, their jagged lines intersecting to form a complex lattice. The plaster shows subtle texture variations where the light grazes it, while the surrounding tiles in the background fade into deep shadow. Corners of the hall hold pools of darkness where the lamplight fails to reach, showing the isolation of the illuminated wall. The branches cast sharp, angular silhouettes that rest heavily against the pale surface, creating a stark contrast between the organic chaos of the limbs and the rigid structure of the architecture. A thin line of shadow falls precisely along the edge where the plaster meets the dark tile.
