Sourdough Bread Sliced at Ulaanbaatar Harbor

Golden-brown crusts of sliced artisan sourdough rest on a weathered wooden surface near the harbor edge in Ulaanbaatar. Deep shadows swallow the foreground while a sharp rim of blue twilight light traces the jagged edges of the bread and the wind-tousled hair of the person standing behind it. The midsummer air ripples visibly through loose strands of hair and the frayed hem of a heavy coat. The harbor water lies dark and still beyond the immediate foreground, reflecting the fading sky. The crust texture appears coarse and flour-dusted, against the smooth, dark surface beneath. A final strand of hair catches the faint blue light, marking the boundary between shadow and the cooling evening.
