Rain streaks the grimy window of a bustling Palermo fruit stall, blurring the neon pink and yellow hues of stacked citrus crates into soft, glowing orbs against the deepening dusk. Inside, a vendor in a stained apron slices a bright yellow lemon, the fruit knife catching a sliver of tungsten light as juice beads on the wooden counter. Condensation rests on the glass, distorting the view of the wet, cobblestone street outside where scooters blur past. Crumbs of rind scatter near a ceramic bowl, evidence of the rapid, practiced motion.
