Silhouetted Weaver Spinning Alpaca Wool in Tehran Courtyard
by Connor Love
Deep indigo twilight fills the courtyard as a figure stands centered in perfect symmetry, hands moving rhythmically to spin soft alpaca fibers. The woman appears as a dark silhouette against the fading sky, her traditional Peruvian woven textiles draped over her shoulders catching the last faint light. Low-hanging clouds obscure the horizon, casting a uniform gray-blue tone across the ancient stone arches of the Grand Bazaar. Seasonal transition is visible in the bare branches of potted plants lining the walkway, their thin twigs stark against the deepening sky. The rough texture of the stone floor contrasts with the fine, wispy strands of wool extending from her fingers. One shaft of residual light catches the edge of a woven pattern on her shawl, highlighting the intricate geometric designs before fading into the shadows.
