Silhouetted Ivory Fox Netsuke at Dawn
Cold silver dawn light flattens the landscape near Tiruchirappalli into a monochrome wash. A hand-carved ivory netsuke rests on a folded silk pad, its form reduced to a dark, sharp silhouette against the brightening sky. The fox sleeps with its head tucked, yet the carved posture holds a coiled, alert tension. Leaves skitter across the ground in the foreground, caught by sudden gusts that blur their edges. The silk pad shows a subtle sheen where the weak light catches the weave, against the matte, worn texture of the ivory. Behind the object, the horizon bleeds pale gray, marking the transition from night. One leaf presses against the silk's edge.
