Silhouetted Hop Strings in Autumn Fog

Pale dawn light breaks through a thin layer of fog over a New Hampshire hop yard. Dark strings of dried hops hang vertically, swaying slightly in the cool air. The foreground holds weathered orchard ladders and stacked wooden crates, their grain softened by the mist. The rising sun creates a bright, diffuse glow behind the subject, turning the hop strings into sharp black silhouettes against the pale sky. Frost coats the lower edges of the crates, indicating the early winter chill. The scene rests in quiet stillness, with the rough texture of the wood contrasting the delicate, brittle vines. One shadow stretches across the frosty ground near the base of a ladder.
