Shaker Meeting House Interior in Khartoum Concrete Lobby

Traditional Shaker pegged walls line the perimeter, their rough-hewn wood against the smooth, industrial curves of the concrete ribs above. Bare wooden benches sit in orderly rows, their simple construction unadorned by fabric or cushions. The turn of the seasons is visible in the dust motes suspended in the air and the dry, dusty tone of the floor. Dramatic shadows stretch across the pale walls, showing the height of the ribbed ceiling.
