Red Feed Bins in Lebanese Lambing Barn Corridor

by Jenna McGee

Warm string lights cast a soft glow along the narrow corridor of a lambing barn, illuminating a row of sturdy red feed bins against weathered concrete walls. The early summer morning remains quiet in these still hours before dawn, leaving deep shadows that pool beneath the metal troughs. Rust speckles the lower edges of the bins, against the smooth, painted surfaces above. Wooden beams support the ceiling overhead, their grain visible in the flickering light. A faint layer of dust settles on the floor, undisturbed by movement. The red paint on the bins appears slightly chipped near the corners, revealing the metal beneath. Shadows stretch long across the concrete floor, ending abruptly at the base of the bins.
